Blue Fields 8-10-15
What’s up? So I went from Rivas to Blue Fields the farthest change in the mission. I wasn’t expecting changes at all. I thought I’d have like 4 changes in Rivas but they called me. At change meeting they just read what zone you are going to and they were like zona Jiugalpa and everyone was like you are going home because I was in Juigalpa for 6 months. The first day I was in Juigalpa. It was chill. I got to see some of my converts who are still active there. It was weird to be in Juigalpa again.
Then the next morning at 4 I left for a bus to Rama, another 4 hours and I was the only one going to Blue Fields so I had to go by myself which was different. In the mission you are always with your companion but I had to go from Juigalpa to Blue Fields solo.
Once I got to Rama I had to go on a boat for 2 hours. I had to wait forever to get a boat. It was chill. They hold 20 people and they’re pretty fast. One of the coolest parts is we passed a few big and medium sized tankers going in the river to the port. It was cool. So after 2 hours on a boat I made it to Blue Fields and my companion who is also from Utah.
Blue Fields is dope. It’s like a little Jamaica, tons of Rasta, tons of black people. Mostly we speak Spanish but pretty much everyone also speaks Creole like broken English. It is easier to understand the Spanish so we mostly speak Spanish. It’s right on the ocean and our house is super close to the ocean, but it’s not like a beach, it’s like a bay and the water is super dirty.
The ward is cool. The lights went out yesterday so we had to be in the house at 6:30 when it went dark but it was chill. In our house we have 4 missionaries. There are only 4 missionaries in Blue Fields and 1 district. There used to be 6 for a bit but Blue Fields is super different than anywhere in Nicaragua. When the lights went out it was super-hot so we couldn’t sleep. We were just sweating a ton in our beds until 1 in the morning when the lights came back on and we had fans.
I don’t know how I forgot , cool thing, we had 3 baptisms and more for next week and we got 14 people in church and we found a way cool family of 5 on Thursday when I got here and they came to church too.
Peace and Love,
Z
