Well this week was good. There was a lot that happened this week. We got a lot of work done this week. We had the Elders from Bluefields come for Zone Conference so that was cool for a couple of days. We had divisions with them one day. We had 3 companionships so we did a ton of lessons and found a ton of new investigators. So that was sweet. But the one problem was Sundaywas November 2, The Day of the Dead which is cool and all but it meant that none of our investigators came to church. Usually we get like 7 or 8. The goal is 6 but we usually get 7 and on Sunday we were like we are going to get a ton in church. We committed all of our investigators super hard. We were like we are going to do divisions with a member Sunday morning so we can pass by every one of our investigators and bring more than 10 people to church. Well that was the plan. We went on divisions passed by everyone of our investigators except 2 of our 35 or so and every house was like , oh they’re not home, their house is locked up. One neighbor told us they left at like 6 in the morning. Our positive family of 5 who are super cool, oh yeah, we are going to a funeral right now. No one was home. Me and Mazariegos brought one investigator and Romey and the member got none. He said everyone wasn’t home and one lady was going to Managua. So that stunk. But the cool thing was the lady that did go to church, Jenni, is super positive. The sister missionaries told us during Relief Society she shared in front what she learned and said that she wanted to come to church everySunday to learn more so that is way cool. At least there was one positive thing that day. Another investigator came in the second hour so that was cool, so we got 2 but that is a super bad number and all of the other missionaries had similar experiences so The Day of the Dead is not a good church day. But it is chill and we will hit it hard this week and get all of them in church on Sunday.
As far as just stuff happening this week, there was a ton. On Monday we had a giant spider in our house that took us awhile to track down and kill. It was funny. On Tuesday I went to study the Bible and I hadn’t used my Bible in like 4 days, my English one. It was on the corner of my table and I opened up the scripture case and it was full of ants. An ant colony had moved in to the spine of my Bible. It was the worst. I spent an hour cleaning them out. I used floss to get them out of the spine but it still was like seriously ants in my Bible. But it’s all clean now.
Well recently in our lunch appointment, she has gotten a lot of rats in her rice so you have to pick out rat poo to eat your food, which is gross. But it’s been boiled so at least we don’t get sick. And we were like whatever, but we are always getting stuff in our food every day. There is a check list:
1. Look through your rice, get out all of the rat poo, like 8 or so pieces.
2. Find the super long nappy hair, there is always one in someone’s food.
3. Find the ants in your drink and don’t drink the bottom half inch. All of the cups have a ton of dirt in the bottom.
When we had the Bluefields over we were joking around an d we are like look out for the rat poo and hair and ants and I look over at Mazariegos plate and I’m like you got a little something in your noodles bro. and there was a fried cockroach, haha way funny. He was like what the freak. We were dying laughing so hard cause Hazel doesn’t eat with us so it’s all chill. We eat in like the front part of the house in like a porch and she just chills in her house watching TV. So she just thought we were like telling jokes or something but we were laughing so hard. We flicked it outside so she wouldn’t’ see it and feel bad, but I have no idea how she didn’t see it as she cooked with it the whole time. Our juice was also super fermented so we couldn’t drink it. so needless to say we didn’t go back the next day and we changed our lunch appointment cause it was time to pay her again.
Anyway so it was the time we could change and we had been thinking about changing it cause she always sends us to her mom’s house which is way far away and we have to take taxis and it’s expensive and takes awhile and we have always had stuff in our food. The problem was we just didn’t know where to change, but we have a recent convert Jeronima and she gave us food before and It’s way good and she is always home because her sister is rich for here and Jeronima and her son Louis live with her and Jeronima cleans and cooks cause she doesn’t have work. She sells chupetas which are like a bag popsicle thing so we changed our lunch to there. Best decision of my life. Her food is so good and she always makes cujada and cream which is like sour butter, way good. She makes way good food and she made us nacatomalies which are kinda like tamales but not really, it’s in a banana leaf and it’s way good. It’s all way clean and sanitary. This is the 2nd best food of my life and in all my mission so her food is way good. So I’m stoked about that.
Another cool thing that happened this week was I turned 19. So that was dope. It was just a normal day but we were doing divisions with Bluefields and we went at 8:30 to the cemetery to send two of them to sleep at the ZL’s and we were chilling waiting for the ZLs when Mazariegos had his camera out and he was filming. But he always does it so I was like chill and thought nothing of it. Then he puts the camera in my face like Happy Birthday and boom Smith smashes an egg on my head, ahh rats. And then they were all laughing and I got 3 more smashed on my head. It’s a Nicaraguan tradition so I knew it was a possibility so it was chill. I was just laughing it was funny. One sister when she left got like 12 eggs smashed on her head so I was lucky haha. So I just showered with my clothes on to get the egg off haha. Then since Bluefields were over we ordered a pizza and drank a lot of Coke. Since it was my birthday, I got the stray piece of pizza so it was dope. The pizza in Juigalpa is different but good. In Managua they have normal pizza but it’s still way good here. It was a good Birthday.
The mission is dope. The church is true and Nicaragua is super chill. Love you guys tons.
Peace and Love,
