Wachala Hommie, 3/9/15
This phrase doesn’t make sense in Spanish nor in English but all the vagos—little hood kids that sit in the street all day—use it to say like what’s up, so that’s chill. This week was good. It was hot like 100 during the day and one time the little thermometer of my companion read 104 after weekly planning. That was inside the house so maybe it was a little cooler outside but it’s actually not that bad cause you just get used to it. The other day it was weird and it rained a bit which it usually doesn’t do right now and so it was 80 degrees and everyone was freezing. I even got cold. It’s crazy. I never thought that to be possible to be cold at 80. I slept with 2 sheets and if it hits 80 at night I’m cold. Before the mission I didn’t think it was cold until it hit the teens and even then all I wore was a t-shirt, shorts and a hoodie haha. From what it sounds like it’s not all that cold there either right now.
Right now I’m in a practice for the choir cause my comp got drafted into the choir. It kinda stinks, but it’s chill cause it’s close and I found my old comp Morales, my trainer in the mission, he is cool and he is the ZL here and they were visiting so I just chilled with him for a while. I also ran into Cayson, He is from Bountiful. He is cool. He is from the North mission. They combined the choir with the North and South missions.
This week was good. We got some work done and had some good lessons and worked hard. This Saturday we should have a baptism so I’m stoked.
Today we were going to go shoot iguanas with sling shots. An investigator we have always goes and finds them in the trees and shoots them with sling shots and then eats them. A lot of people do it. We were stoked but we had to ask the DL if we could and he said yes but then he had to ask the ZL’s who then asked the AP who said that it could be potentially dangerous so we can’t shoot iguanas any more. That is a bummer.
This last Friday we had the zone interviews. It went good. The president is really happy with me and my companion and with our area cause we’re doing pretty good for opening so that’s cool. We’ll keep working hard. I’m hoping to get some more baptisms this month. We have some other possibilities so hopefully we can get them in the water. But the mission is going good. The only bummer is lately the water has been shutting off way early here like at 8 or at 7. They had a city meeting to try and get our barrio more water but I think they might have just made them mad cause now our water turns off way fast.
The mission is going good and thanks a ton for the letters and post cards. I got all your post cards from my little cousins. They were the best. Thanks a ton for being the best family out there and always looking out for me. I’ll keep working hard out here and hopefully I’ll do you proud.
Peace and love,
Z
