This week was good. I can’t think of a ton to write about but this week was good. We had a baptism this week of Luis Calero. He is cool. He was the kid we tried to baptize earlier and then couldn’t cause of his evangelical family and family problems. It was sweet because he is now baptized and his family is reactivated so that is way cool. I’m stoked that they will be good members. On Sunday they gave us some food and shared their testimonies with us. It was really cool and they talked about all these things like how you can never stop family prayer and how not to become less active so it was cool.
We found some good investigators this week. Our area is doing good now that it’s all set up. We are hoping to baptize 5 this month. We have 2 but we are going to work hard for the other 3. We have the possibility so we just have to work hard to get it done.
Today was good. So far we just went to the choir practice for my companion. They are having a multi mission meeting on Thursday so that should be chill. It’s cool to talk to the North Mission missionaries. One of my buddies from high school is there Cayson Perks. They also give us McDonald’s at the practice so that’s chill.
The one guy I told you about who walks way fast who went to church, well we taught the word of wisdom to him and it turns out that he smokes 7oz of weed a week. That’s insane. In all my days I’ve never heard of that mostly because no one has that much money. Here it’s only 150 cords an ounce or 6 dollars. But the people make in this area only like a dollar an hour or 24 cords. In Juigalpa they only get like 10 cords an hour for the lower jobs like recycling plant, construction or sewing in the zona but sewing they also get some food.
I really don’t know what to write about this week. I’ll tell you about something like no one has washing machines. Very rarely does anyone have a washing machine and if they do they are super ghetto. Everyone just has these concrete sinks with built in washing boards and that’s how pretty much everyone washes their clothes. I would think that it would tear up your clothes but it doesn’t. All my clothes are in surprisingly good shape.
Now the water at my house turns off at 8 in the morning so I have a garbage can and a hose to shower at night. It’s cool and it works well. My apartment is a little concrete house. We dump a bucket of water to flush the toilet when it’s to stinky at night and we just drink the tap water. Technically it’s not approved but it’s just like swimming pool water so at least it won’t make you sick. In this apartment I haven’t had rats but just lots of cockroaches and ants. We found one little scorpion and put it in a peanut butter jar its chill. It’s a decently nice house for Nicaragua depending on the area I guess. I love ya tons and I hope Briar makes it out all safe and sound.
Good to hear is all going well, peace and love,
Elder Rushton
