Weekly Letter December 1, 2014
Well a lot happened this week. First off we had changes on Wednesday, which were crazy cause my comp Roney only had 1 change here but he got changed to Bluefields to be the District Leader out there. So I’m still in Juigalpa which is chill cause I like my area. My new comp is Elder Henriquiez. He is cool. He is from El Salvador and only speaks Spanish and like 10 words in English so that’s actually way good cause my Spanish needs a lot of help. So my Spanish will improve a lot over this next change cause Heriquiez always corrects me and teaches me a ton so that is chill. He also is a cook. He went to school before his mission so maybe he’ll teach to make some good Nicaraguan food.
Thanksgiving was good. We ate at a place with the zone. It was good but the best part was I made way good mashed potatoes at night for my dinner. They were good. Mashed potatoes are the best.
We were going to have 3 baptisms this Saturday but only had 1 on Saturday and 1 on Sunday. It was crazy. On Saturday 1 person couldn’t come so we just put plans to baptize her on Sunday. She is cool. She was a reference from the sisters so that was cool cause when we started teaching her she already had 1 time in church. I felt bad for the poor sisters. They found a good investigator then she actually lives on the other side of Juigalpa. But it was good for us, we baptized her on Sunday.
Our Saturday was crazy. We found this guy who was like yeah, I’ve been to church a couple of times before but I wasn’t baptized. Then we started teaching his wife so it was chill. They went to church and were really excited to be baptized. So when we are getting ready to baptize them my comp asks the guy, “Are you nervous?” and he is like, “No, not at all this is my second time.” My comp is like, “What? You’ve been baptized here before?” “Oh yeah this is the second time.” So we looked it up and sure enough he had been baptized. It was crazy cause we had asked him multiple times and he was always, “Yeah I’ve been to church with the missionaries a few times but they left so I need to be baptized. I never got baptized.” I don’t know why he wanted to be baptized again, or why he told us that but it was chill. His wife was baptized so we had 2 baptisms this week. It was a good week and went by super fast. The mission is ill.
Thanks a ton for the letters. I’m a spoiled missionary. I love all your letters a ton. I got one from Johnny B and I got a postcard form Gramsy and one from Brad’s mom which was super cool cause it’s like an update on how all my friends are doing with parts of all their letters so it was cool. Last week I don’t think I wrote it but I got a ton of letters from you guys. I also got the pictures you guys made into postcards so that was super cool. I only get mail every few weeks.
The mission is sweet. I like it a lot. It’s crazy that I’ve been out for close to 6 months. Time flies when you’re having fun and working hard. The harder you work the faster it goes. Before the mission I always heard that the first 6 months feels like a year and a half and the next year and a half feel like 6 months. If that is the case I’ll be home in like 3 days. Its gone way fast.
Peace and Love,
Z
