Well today is busy so this will be a little short. Right now I’m sitting waiting for a multi mission to start so I have a bit of time to write. It’s going to be with the area presidency I think. It’s out here in Managua but this time I didn’t have to travel a day to get here because after 6 months in the B-town of Nicaragua I got changes so now I’m in Masaya. It’s chill so far. One cool thing is that for the first time in my mission we eat dinner. The members feed us. But now that I’m so used to just eating 1 meal a day it has given me some diarrhea and last night I threw up. I’ll get used to eating. It’s not even that we eat that much not at all but yeah, maybe it was something I ate.
Masaya is sweet. I now live with 3 Latinos so finally I’ll learn Spanish haha. Actually I’m doing alright with the Spanish but I’m learning a lot. Today will be busy that’s why I’m writing now. We have the muli mission and then I have to go to immigration because I’m actually a straight up illegal immigrant. My cedula (visa) expired in October. The office missionaries told me that the immigration lady that helps us missionaries has been freaking out about it for months because if I get stopped and they ask for my cedula then it could be a problem. They detained 4 missionaries a few months ago because they didn’t have their ID’s. They got out in a couple of hours but still it was funny. I’m going to immigration once this ends and then my companion needs to go to the dentist for his teeth. So we’ll go there too. We have a full plate.
Oh, Sister Maria dried turtle. My old companion from Bluefields just gave it to me so I’ll send it your way soon. It is dried so she says you need to wash it really good and then boil it a ton and then it’s good to eat. She didn’t finish writing my recipes but you could look up on the internet Run Dun. Its meat cooked in coconut. It’s super good. You have to look it up like Bluefields, Nicaragua Run Dun or really you can cook it how you please, fried, asada, meatballs. You can make it any way. I hope it is good.
I want to tell you guys a funny story. In Bluefields one of the missionaries left a power adaptor or surge protector so we put it on the microwave so it doesn’t get fried. I was plugging in the microwave when the European adapter popped out so I went to push it back in. Bad idea. It shocked me good. My arms shot back and forth and I had a charger in my hands and I ended up throwing it. It shocked me real good. It was funny. I’ve been shocked a few times out here. They just hang the light switches from the ceiling and the back of them if they don’t tape it up good will shock you if you touch it. I’ve done that a couple of times but not as bad as that power converter thing.
Also a cool thing was that on Monday I was printing off little baptismal pictures, just the normal 4x6 or whatever it is and we were talking to the photo guy and he was like, “I want to print you a big one for free.” The big page one so he printed a picture of Hubert with all of his turtles. We gave it to him and he was so stoked. He said that in all of the years he has been fishing turtles, he has never had a picture with them so he was really stoked. He is cool. All of the turtles we ate almost came from him. He is the guy who gave me the cool turtle identification tag so I was glad we could catch him of the flip side.
Masaya is cool. My area is in the middle of the city with no outskirts or anything. I heard that you can see open lava in the volcano that is right outside of Masaya but we aren’t allowed to go but it’s still cool. There are signs everywhere pointing to the evacuation point if the volcano were to erupt. I’ll send a picture sometime of one of them. We are reopening this area because they took out both of the other missionaries. They did leave a few investigators for us so that’s chill. We are looking to have a baptism on Saturday.
I was also talking to Elder Ware, my old companion, and our cool investigators are going to be baptized in Bluefields too so that’s cool. Well before I ramble too much, peace and love,
Z
PS Thanks mom for all of the Excedrin you sent me. It’s nice to stay awake in meetings.
PS2 I was going to ask what was in the package you sent me because sadly I think that it got swiped. It’s still not here.
PS3 Andy can you send in my Columbia coat to get the hood zipper fixed. Columbia has a lifetime zipper guarantee so you should bring it to the store in PC to get it fixed. Thanks
PS4 We’ve been here since 6:30 and it still hasn’t started. It’s 10:15 already.
