This week was good. It was lucky because we had zone meeting so we were supposed to go to Juigalpa but the other elders had a baptism on Friday and since my comp is new and doesn’t know the area they left me and Elder Page to work here and we sent them to zone meeting. I was glad that I didn’t have to go all the way out there again. There is a multi-zone conference soon so I won’t be lucky for long, seeing as we will have to go in for like a week.
Anyways, we were going to have a baptism this Friday and a marriage but the husband works for the city and a bridge got messed up so he was working a ton to fix it and couldn’t get time off. We can’t do it next week because it is conference. It has been a process getting them to get married and getting all of their paperwork but they are cool. The husband isn’t a member but the wife is. She cooks good bread. She doesn’t have an oven so she puts a big pot on a charcoal fire and then she puts the dough in the pot and then she has a fire built on top of a piece of tin and then puts it on top of the pot. It’s a pretty cool way to cook bread. They are going to wait to get married until like the 9th of October.
When I was helping Elder Page with the baptism on Friday he wanted to bake a cake so in the morning we went to the church, put the oven to pre heat and then mixed it all together and went to put the cake in the oven and when we opened the oven we found that there was a melted plastic bag full of clothes in the oven that was a little toasted. Of course it was my clothes that I had forgotten all about when a couple of weeks earlier I had put it there during another baptism so I wouldn’t lose it haha. They were a little toasted and now kind of smell like animal crackers. But it is all good. They are fine they just got lightly browned like a dinner roll. I’d say I did a pretty good job cooking them.
The baptism on Friday for the other area went well. It was just that we had to baptize sitting down because the pump of the church wasn’t working so for my baptism on Saturday me and Elder Page, because our companions still hadn’t got back from Juigalpa got the font ready. We had to clean the font. All of my times cleaning the shower came in handy and then after that we filled it all the way to the top with buckets. We got a 25 gallon garbage can and I took a little thing with wheels for a filing cabinet and we found a board and a metal board to put on the wheels so we could set the can on it. I would fill the garbage can by using a bucket. We took the water out of a tank in the ground. Luckily in the church there is a pump that takes the water out of the well and puts it in a tank in the ground. From there it pumps it into the church so we don’t have to pull the water out of a super deep well just out of the tank. So I’d fill the can up with a rope and a bucket and then we would push it on the cart and pull and push and roll it to the font and dump it into the font and then we did that around 40 or more times, for a couple of hours. I lost count at like 7. It was actually kind of fun. I like working and it’s nice to do something different sometimes. It all worked out well. The font got filled and the baptism of Areanne went good so that was good.
Sunday went good also. We had 13 investigators in church and Women’s Conference. I’m excited for conference.
Today I’m going to go to a store that has exported American food to get atomic fire balls for conference so I don’t sleep haha. Also because they are really good.
This week a family gave us Sus Ity Ba, it’s like little crabs. They were good. It was in a soup. The one weird part is that they leave the gills on and they are crispy like celery, but it’s all good.
Peace and Love,
Z
