This week was good. The two weeks before this week we couldn’t find any positive investigators, none at all. It was terrible. We were doing all the work, getting all the numbers, reaching all the goals, but not finding positive people. But, this week we started contacting an area that I haven’t done much work in cause my area is big and there are tons of random neighborhoods and it like almost never ends. There are parts of my area I’ve never been to, entire neighborhoods I don’t know at all. But we started working in this new neighborhood and we started finding so many positive people. It was sweet. Tons of positive people and on Sunday we brought 9 investigators to church it was the highest number in the zone, even with the ZL’s who have 4 missionaries with 2 separate companionships. So we were stoked.
Another thing that happened this week was one morning I was putting on my shoes and I always check them and I didn’t check my first shoe. I was like, Oh, I didn’t check my shoe. Oh whatever, I’ve checked my shoes every day and never found anything. The chance of something in my shoe is so little and I checked the other. But of course God was like, hey man check your shoe so I was thinking about it a lot but was like no it’s too much work to take off my shoe and check it. So we leave the house and we are walking and I feel something under my toe, a bit like maybe a cotton ball or an old band aid. But I’m like in denial so there is nothing in my shoe—nope nothing there. Then I feel it again. Oh man there is something in my shoe. What could it be? I can think of nothing so I stop, take off my shoe, dump it upside down and a big spider comes out of my shoe. I was like no way that is sketchy. My companion said, dude that was in your shoe? It was a tarantula, a small one for tarantulas but still close to the size of my palm, a little smaller. So, not giant but big and way big for a Utah spider but not for a tarantula. It was small for a tarantula but freaking sketchy. We have some big spiders here. I don’t think like Cody’s spider status but like the size of my whole palm is probably the biggest I’ve seen in our house. We have a ton of banana trees here, a ton and Cody always told us about the sketchy banana spiders, so I’m always like looking at the banana trees.
The snow is a good thing cause it is the best thing in the workd but also because it kills your bugs. We have some big bugs here, some way big harry caterpillars. We found a huge beetle it was so big, it was dope—way good looking. So the snow is dope cause it kills all of that.
As for my testimony for the bishop here it is:
Every day in the mission we invite people to make changes in their lives and come unto Christ. Every person we teach makes changes in their lives from the big to the small, torn families come together to drunks kicking the habit but the small things are equally rewarding to watch. A person finally understands the doctrine, to see them just stop following everyone else and actually seek for the truth themselves, and find that truth. They find that there is a true church and that church is the church that Jesus Christ himself established and later restored through the prophet Joseph Smith which is the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The rewards of the mission are simple but sweet and eternally satisfying. I am so grateful for this opportunity I have been given to serve the Lord and the people of Nicaragua.
My love for our savior Jesus Christ has grown more in these short 6 months than at any other time in my life. Every day in the mission I have the opportunity to share my testimony of Him, that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer and that only though Him and by Him can we be saved. He has paid the price for our sins but we need to do our part and come unto Him and repent with a sincere heart. Then as we use the atonement we can become clean, come unto Him and feel of the infinite love that He has for us. I know that He knows every one of us by name and by thought and action. He will never leave us in a time of need if we will only ask. I am grateful for the opportunity I have to be His representative, to help people come unto Him and to do His work here upon the earth.
Peace and love. The mission is great,
