Changes 5-18-15
So I got changes and I went super far—way far, all the way to the other side of the main road to Sandino 3. But I kind’ve expected it and the ZL also told me that it would probably happen because in our ward there were 6 missionaries and me and Jensen were working hard but the other 4 weren’t and were disobedient and all 4 got taken out of here. So now I’m in Sandino 3 which is chill.
I’m pretty much reopening again. They only left me with 4 investigators. Luckily one was all ready to be baptized on Saturday. That was nice of them to leave us a gift but other than that we just have one other family so not awful.
All we do is contact to find new investigators. In Sandino1 I left my area of possibilities to baptize 12 this month and 26 investigators with baptismal dates and came here with the possibilities of 2 and 1 investigator with a baptismal date. We are going to work hard and it’s all chill with me because I’m just happy to work and work where ever I’m at.
I’m now in Sandino 3 and my companion is Elder Rodriguez. He is cool. He is from Belize. The only thing is that the native language of Belize is English haha. So I’m still with an English speaking companion. But it’s chill. My Spanish isn’t perfect by any means but it’s getting better. I just have to study with books. More than anything little grammer things and pronouncing is where a Hispanic companion helps because they correct you.
Mother’s Day 5/11/15
Well this week was good. It went by fast and was a lot of work but that is what makes the mission fun, lots of work and it leaves you tired. Yesterday was a good Sunday. I really enjoyed talking to you all. I really do have the best family out there. I love ya all tons.
This week we were working to baptize this one lady and her five kids and it was a struggle. It was all good until she just made up her mind no. So that stunk. The DL came to give her and her kids interviews and she changed her mind the night before and she was just no about it all. Then the Dl was like yeah she isn’t going to change her mind back but then the AP was like ohh, the 6 baptisms fell though, I can fix it. Then it was still no haha. On Monday it was all good. She is together with a member so we were going to marry them and all on Friday and it was good. But then they decided that they weren’t ready to marry for another two months because that’s when her birthday is. She didn’t have a reason for the kids not to be baptized just that she said no about that too. They’ll be baptized but it will take more work and time.
Other than that we have some good investigators. A guy named Roter and his wife Suzanna. He is cool. He is really looking for the true church. The only problem is that on Sunday there was a guy texting on his phone in sacrament meeting and it bothered Roter a lot. I don’t really know why. We explained that it’s the true church and doctrinally and it’s organization id perfect but that people aren’t perfect. he was still a little bothered about it and on Sunday in the class of principles of the gospel he got up and started talking about it. He said, “Everyone tells me that this is the true church and I want it to be the true church but we need to work together to make it the perfect church and be perfect members.” He talked for like 10 minutes. It was chill. I’m worried that he still doesn’t understand that the true church doesn’t mean perfect members. It’s a good goal but it’s not there.
We are seeing some success but me and my same companion have been together for 3 changes here and we came at the same time because we reopened the area. The ZL says one of us is almost for sure getting changes but that’s what they said last time too. Well, we will see.
Peace and Love,
Elder Rushton
