5/4/15
This week was good. We worked hard and had some good lessons, found some good new investigators and found some positive less actives and one less active family with one nonmember kid so that is dope. We have some good investigators. Two of the most positive are a guy and his wife Suzanna. The guy really wants to find the truth. He has a real desire. They accepted Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon very well. Sometimes people don’t want to understand that stuff. We had one positive family that didn’t want to believe in the book of Mormon so they left. We had taught them hours about the Book of Mormon to help them, but it was just a lack of desire on their part. Rojer and Suzanna took it all way well so that is dope. They came to church so they’re cool. Also we have one lady who is together with a member of the church and their 5 kids. We are going to work hard with them but it’s tricky and we can never find all the kids so we’ll see. We have a family home evening with them tonight. We’re going to try and see what we can do for them because it is tricky with 6. It’s just crazy over there.
The work is going well and time is flying the weeks are so fast. We don’t have time to do everything it all just flies by so fast. But here everything is good.
It finally rained, so that is way nice. It was getting so hot and there was like a huge inversion of just water vapor. It was just all foggy for a few days and so hot—just cooking like crazy. It is a ton better now that it finally rained. Two days ago on a Saturday at night it rained so hard at like 7:30 so we still had work to do when it started super raining super hard. This lady let us in but she wasn’t interested so we just put our stuff in plastic bags and went back to the streets to work. It was raining super hard and the streets we were in became big ol rivers. We were walking around in midshin deep water and in some parts higher. It was just big ol rivers ripping down the streets and pouring like crazy. We were able to go teach Rojer and Suzanna about the Book of Mormon because of the rain so it was all worth it.
Also this week I took my shirts to this guy to sew them because they are huge and it’s like a dollar to get your shirts sewn. He took 3 ½ cm out of each side so 7 cm out and they are still a little big haha. My shirts were for like big people and so he sewed them. He is also going to fix my suit pants. They are big because Collin is taller than me so that’s chill.
This week on Monday in the street by my house that goes straight up the hill we live on had a pipe break under the street. It was a big pipe and it is the second time while I’ve been here. It lifts up the bricks that they make the streets with and there was a big ol river under the road and the road was like collapsing. Now the street is all destroyed because when they turned off the water and fixed the pipe, the road sunk like a foot in some places so it’s all messed up. Then again on Thursday the pipe broke again and this time it just made a huge hole in the middle of the street with tons of water pouring out and there were all these kids swimming in it and all these people getting water from it because there was no water to shower. We had to go get water to shower too because there was none.
This week also a little car called a moto taxi or motito got stuck in all the mud. The first time the pipe blew up. I sent you some pictures.
The work is going good. Today a sister went out to print pictures for us for our baptisms and all and all the picture places are in malls and we can’t go to any of the malls. We used to be able to go to the plaza Inter, but the missionaries who were close to it would go like every p-day so the Prez banned Plaza Inter. Now we have to find a member to print our pictures but she is also going to find us root beer in this little American store over there so we’re stoked.
Peace and Love,
Z
