What up? Chill week. This week was changes but I’m still here. That’s sweet. Brad Beer left but now I have a new companion Elder Ware. He is cool. He was from California and now he’s from Cedar City. He’s a cool dude. He is stoked to work hard so we get along well.
This week has gone well. It was a little tricky because I didn’t have a companion for a few days so I had to look for divisions and work in the other area a lot. This week was also the Purisima. It’s a holiday for the Virgin Mary. Everyone puts up shrines and people go from shrine to shrine singing and they get things like food and stuff and they light off a bunch of fireworks. It was interesting, actually it isn’t as big here as it is in the rest of Nicaragua so that’s good. Blue Fields is chill.
This week we also got to eat turtle belly. It tastes all right. Really it actually almost doesn’t have a taste. You know that generic seafood taste that all sea food has that’s all it tastes like. Turtle belly is the bottom shell, it’s their belly but it’s pretty much a shell too. It’s all hard and they just take out the bones and boil it forever until it is soft. So it’s like eating these big hunks of cartilage. It is comical to say the least. really not bad but comical. It’s good that they don’t waste the turtles. Maria says we have now eaten the whole turtle except for the brain. They don’t eat the brain. We’ve eaten heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, everything. She makes really good food. It always tastes good. The best is fried jack in coconut yumm. That’s good.
This week on Sunday it rained a ton and the church attendance is normally 130 but a bunch of members went to Guatemala to go to the temple but really only like 35 left and then half of them already came back so really it only accounts for the lack of maybe 20 people but there were only 63 people in church. It was a struggle. If it rains on Sunday everyone just sleeps all day. We were able to get the goal of 6 investigators in church but we were hoping for like 10-12 but we’ll hit it hard next week.
We found a cool reference this week the member was just like, “Oh, Elders, this is my nephew he has been to church a bunch and would like to be baptized on the 26th of December.” “Sweet we can do that.”
Peace and Love,
Z
