Well, this week was good. The week went well. One thing this week is we got a new lunch appointment. Where we used to eat, she just gave us rice and beans and some cheese every day with Tang. We changed and now there is more diversity. We still get a lot of rice and beans but with some tomatoes, lettuce, potatoes and some fried cheese. It is a lot better.
Also this week it rained. That’s unusual because it is the dry season so it shouldn’t rain. It has a couple of times this week, but it was nice. I got really wet.
Also this week we started working in an area called el Pochote. It was a part of the sister’s area but then they didn’t baptize anyone in 6 months and they closed the area a long time ago. I went on divisions out there with a member to go and contact a less active. The member showed me around and told me all of the member’s homes he knew. My companion and I started working there. It is sweet. We have found some cool people and a lot of people who have never talked to the missionaries.
We brought one lady from there to church and some of her family members had visited the church before but she came and as we were waiting for the bus for conference we showed her the church and at the baptismal font my companion asked her if she remembered her goal. She was like, “oh don’t you worry, I’m going to get baptized.” It is pretty cool.
Eric started going to seminary. He is going to be baptized on the 16th. We are going to start to teach his family too and then Juan and Ana really like the church and they brought 3 of their daughters. They are super cool. Juan and Ana need to get married but they already have all of the papers so that’s good.
Missionary work is cool. We really don’t do anything. We walk and work all day but really we don’t do anything if you think about it, as far as people gaining their testimonies to be baptized. It is cool to see all we do is pass by a few times to pray and go to church and as long as they do those things they’ll feel the spirit and will be baptized. It is interesting to see and think about. This really must be the true church because it just works too well. All we do as missionaries is to invite the spirit and if the people accept it and are willing to go to church, they will gain a testimony. There is no need to convince or push or anything. It is super cool. One thing I have learned as a missionary is that the only thing we have to learn to do is be a conduit for the spirit, nothing more. As long as we live righteously and are obedient and seek the guide of the spirit we will be guided and the Lord will be able to use us as a tool in his hands to bring his sheep back to his fold. This really is the true church.

No time to write, 3-21-16
Well you’re all going to be angry with me again because today I didn’t write my letter. I’m sorry but we had a busy day. Our apartment is owned by a member so she sent her son over to have us help him paint the apartment. So from like 7:30 to like 11:30 we were painting and cleaning but it went well.
My companion and I then went and got a bunch of food to make tacos. We took the stove out of our house and on to the porch and my comp made a super good hot sauce. That is what is in the picture of the blender. The sauce is like the kind you find at Betos. It is really good. We still have like a liter and a quater of sauce left. haha so that’s sweet. We will have sauce for everything.
After we ate, we cleaned with the son of the lady who owns our apartments who is a member. He is a member too. He is a returned missionary. He is a chill dude so we invited him to come eat tacos too.
As far as missionary work, the work has gone super good. This week has been really cool. Everyone we contacted have been positive and some super cool families came to church. God is doing some miracles in this area. I’m really glad. It is cool to see. We’ll just be walking and see a family and say to them, “hey how are you doing? My name is Elder Rushton.” And God does the rest.
Well there isn’t a bunch of time so I’ll send you what I wrote to the Prez. We have to write him every week and tell him what we do. It talks about that same thing too.
Dear President Russell,
This week was good. It was a good week. I am really excited about the work. We have seen a huge out pooring of blessings from God. We just contact people and they are super cool and super prepared and super positive. I’m really excited to see how the month of April turns out. Right now we have a lot of really cool people that are super prepared by the Lord. I’m excited to help and guide them to baptism.
This week we found a ton of cool people and made our goal of people in church in the end with 8. We are having a good time, working really hard and being obedient and seeing the miracles and the work of the Lord. I really do nothing I’m elder Rushton, who am I to say that any of the success we have is a result of my works? I’m glad to see the works of God in this area. I hope to continue to see and be blessed by them.
Elder Medrano and I are doing good and working hard and of good health.
Love ya all tons and have a good week,
Z
