What up family? This week was good. This week I got changes so I’m now in Sandino 1. It’s pretty chill. It is a suburb kinda of Managua. On Tuesday I got changes so Wednesday we went to Managua for the meeting. I don’t know how you did it mom—fit all my stuff in my bags, but I ended up with my 2 suitcases and 2 backpacks then my hammock filled full of stuff tied to the back of my back pack to move. Next time I’ll try and pack better so it all fits cause it can but I’m just not as crazy skilled as mom haha. One member in Juigalpa gave me a chill little camping backpack. He was like I have a gringo backpack I won’t use it because it’s for gringo. So it is chill and helped me move.
My new area is good. We are reopening an area so that is tricky, not having any investigators to start but the members here are sweet. They are a ton of help with divisions and with references but for the most part my comp, Elder Jensen, and I just contact all day. He is chill. He just finished his training and I’m senior companion, so we are 2 fairly new gringos reopening a huge area. We are doing good so far. My area is just west of Lake Managua. It is always way windy so that is nice. It is hot here but not terrible because of the wind. Our area is good. The people are way nice. We have like the outer edge of the city of Sandino and then some outer neighborhoods, and then a couple of little towns and one place called Xiloa. It is supposed to be nice. There used to be a bus that brought a ton of members from there but then they had some crapy missionaries and the members started to become inactive and they stopped the bus. So now there is only 1 active member in Xiloa. We are going to go there on Monday. I want to work hard over there cause if we get people from there to start going to church again we can get them to start up the bus and reactivate a ton of people. So we are going to go over there and start working and see what happens. I heard it used to have it’s own set of missionaries so I don’t know, we’ll see.
But our area is good. The only bummer is we only have water from 4 in the morning to about 9:30. That is what everyone says, I haven’t been up early enough to see it but it definitely turns off before 10. It’s a good area. We are going to work hard and see if we can get some success here in Sandino 1. It is a ton different than Juigalpa but it’s good.
So for my spiritual experience, me and my comp are doing a ton a contacting and we weren’t finding anyone and weren’t get any promptings to contact any one so I was like we need to say a prayer. We said a prayer and then we just followed the spirit and the first people we contacted we sat down and taught a lesson and they were super cool. We will see if they progress. I’ll work on writing you guys some more spiritual stuff for next week.
Peace and Love,
Elder Rushton
